The Data Oath - Ethics for Artificial Intelligence
I’m delighted to announce the launching of TheDataOath.org. Working along with my amazing team, this is our contribution to the essential work in AI Ethics and how AI interacts, treats, and guides all of our respective lives. The Data Oath is currently in its beta form, and we have officially made it available to everyone to send us their comments, questions, suggestions, or just some friendly support.
Over the past few months, we’ve been working on clearly defining the ethical guidelines for our AI companies and clients. After many discussions with many leaders in the AI, technology, business, government, and academic communities, we have developed what we believe are the most robust foundations for implementing ethical artificial intelligence.
We also ensured that we took a truly global view when developing these foundations. We received insights, feedback, and encouragement from leaders in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, France, Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, Singapore, and Australia. We hoped to create a view that took the best insights from around the world and not just one geographical or regulatory location.
The Five Foundations of Ethical Artificial Intelligence are:
Inclusive
Equitable
Transparent & Explainable
Improves Quality of Life
Accessible + Contestable
We look forward to hearing from all of you in the coming weeks and months as we build out The Data Oath into something truly great. We have huge plans for transforming how businesses and governments around the world think about human users and artificial intelligence.
If you’re not sure if Ethical AI is relevant or not, we’d suggest starting your journey by reading the very short and amusing story: The Absurd Dinner Bill. We think it’s one of the best introductions to AI Ethics out there.
