Generative AI, Copilots, and Regulating the Mexican Financial System at the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores
Earlier this week the CEO of Emergent Line, Christopher Sanchez, gave a master class on Generative Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Model Construction (LLMs), Copilots, and Applications for Regulating the Mexican Financial System.
During the conference, Mr. Sanchez shared his vision that “Mexico and Latin America have the unique opportunity to become an AI powerhouse in a regional and global setting, and new AI systems need to be developed in Latin America, with Latin American data, for Latin Americans. We need LLMs (large language models) that reflect the rich and diverse cultures of Latin America.”
During the in-person presentation, Dr. Jesús de la Fuente Rodríguez, the president of the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV), along with all the vice presidents of the commission, participated in a lively Question & Answer session on a broad range of topics ranging from data practices, opportunities for developing copilots within the commission, cybersecurity, deep fakes, voice cloning, synthetic identities, and more.
Mr. Sanchez shared his view that “Right now, all countries are at roughly the same starting point. Where everyone is trying to figure out how to develop and deploy these new generative and AI systems within their organizations and economies responsibly. So now is the time to get started because Mexico has a real opportunity to reshape education, regulation, salaries, and the region if we get started today.”

The session was live-streamed to the entire CNBV, with over 1,300 from the commission in attendance for the master class and discussion.
