Staying Employable in an Automated World: What Makes You Unique
When I advise younger and older people about staying employable over their careers, the advice generally ends roughly the same, with a few tweaks for each unique situation.
Every one of us has to take the time to figure out what is unique about us and, more importantly, what we bring to the table that can amplify the output of everyone. Granted, this is easier said than done, but I genuinely believe it is essential to making anything Automation Proof.
An excellent method to understand what we bring to the table is by understanding our unique set of creative talents that we can sharpen into skills with some dedicated work. It’s crucial to realize that everyone, yes everyone, is creative in some fashion. Creativity can manifest itself in a broad range of talents. For example:
Emotional Intelligence
Problem Solving
Team Building
Arts - music, design, dance, etc.
Languages
Grit and perseverance.
The list goes on, and many other areas could be added. I would encourage you to take away from this section the importance of bringing your unique creativity to everything you do.
